The Sustainable Connections Institute – Conexsus, is a non-governmental, non-profit organization created in 2018 with the mission of accelerating the transition to a low-carbon economy and strengthening territorial resilience through the development of businesses with a socio-environmental impact (cooperatives, associations and micro and small companies) in Brazil. Conexsus operates in four axes of change: development of community business models; customized financial solutions for the rural and forest environment and unlocking access to public credit; marketing arrangements for expanding and strengthening connections between producers, industry, retailers and consumers; innovation and entrepreneurship. Through hybrid financing for resilient supply chains and the structuring of low-carbon, community-based production models, and the engagement of multiple actors from civil society, the private sector, academia and governments, the organization works to generate income in the countryside and in forests and conserve threatened biomes, such as the Amazon and the Cerrado.
