German Cooperation for Sustainable Development through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The Brazil-Germany Cooperation for Sustainable Development is a work that began with actions between the German government and small Brazilian cooperatives in the 60s and 70s, to become, over the decades, a solid partnership between the two countries, which involves the performance of governments, private initiative and civil society. The Bioeconomy and Value Chains project has been implemented since 2021, the result of a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA) and the German Cooperation for Sustainable Development, through Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The project supports the sustainable use and economic enhancement of biodiversity, creating positive incentives for forest preservation and strengthening strategic elements of a sustainable and inclusive bioeconomy in the Amazon. It contributes to the improvement of climate and biodiversity protection and supports the establishment of the foundations for sustainable development in the social, ecological and economic spheres in Brazil.
